I have a love-hate relationship with reality renovation TV. From a designers’ perspective, or anyone who has ever actually remodeled their home, renovation TV shows can be a bit. . . shall we say. . . full of BS and drama. Well, we were lucky enough to get the chance to help the handsome Property Brothers remodel a home here in LA for their Forever Home show and I am happy to say there was no drama or BS budgets! Ok maybe a bit of drama, I was 9 months pregnant and had to FaceTime my team to get the job done, but you won’t see that on camera! Anyhoo, we had a blast working with their team (run mostly by kick ass women, always a plus) and we hope you enjoy the episode!
KITCHEN/DINING - BEFORE AND AFTER
The homeowners, Jen and Alex love their 1940s L.A. home, but its closed-off kitchen/dining layout made each room feel so small. We re-designed these 2 spaces to make them feel bigger by opening some walls and adding in an island. Scandi meets mid-century with a super functioning kitchen for a family that loves to cook!
LIVING ROOM - BEFORE AND AFTER
The floor made this room look and feel so heavy and dark. We replaced the floor with a lighter tone, kept the mid-century vibe with furniture and added some texture to make it feel modern and bright!
